First time trying out in my opinion – authentic Japanese curry rice. Coco Ichibanya have a pretty interesting concept of customizing their food based on customer’s preference. This is what you need to do:
1. Select your desired curry.
2. Select the quantity of rice.
3. Select the spicy level.
4. Select toppings.
Cool, isn’t it?
Chicken Cutlet Curry with normal rice and spicy level 3($12). Essentially, a large chicken cutlet on a bed of steaming hot of japanese rice.
Being my first time trying japanese curry rice, it’s definitely a safe choice to choose the basic curry rice. And i wasn’t disappointed. The cutlet was hot and crispy, and yet able to soak the essence of the curry. Rice was the typical fat japanese rice which really matches well with the curry. However, after eating a few mouthful, you can feel the bloated-ness in your stomach. So for small eaters, especially girls, i do recommend you to take the option to reduce your rice volume. Not only you save money $.$, you won’t get to suffer the same as me, as i stagger out of the restaurant, feeling extremely bloated and vomit-ty.
Another advice that i can give is, to choose a spicy level that suit your tongue. I would recommend level 1 or 2 for the spicy-chili-padi eaters and perhaps 0 or 1 for the Mcdonalds-chili peeps. Honestly, i’m an avid fan of chili, i love chili padi, chicken rice chili, literally all kinds of chili. And i eat them since young. Yet my tongue gave up on me after about 7-8 mouthful of curry. The only comforting fact is that they provide complimentary pickled radish which temporary ease my poor tongue.
Definitely, i will be going back to try more of their food. Do also visit their Facebook page(link below) for more daily updates on their new menu. They’re always coming up with new dishes yeah. However, do note that water is not complimentary, so do get yourself hydrated before challenging their level 5 spicy level(if ya up for it). MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
